How licensing works in Azure

After ActionableAgile is installed in your Azure DevOps organization, interested users must procure an ActionableAgile trial or subscription before they can use the app within Azure. This must be done from the installed app in your Azure organization.

You can buy an organization-wide license so that all1 of your users can seamlessly use ActionableAgile. If you are not ready to do that then you must buy a license for each user that would like to use ActionableAgile. We suggest a single subscription per organization as we are beginning to offer bulk pricing once you reach 30+ users. (see the section labeled “Purchasing a multiple-user subscription” below.)

1 Please note that users with Stakeholder access in Azure DevOps do not have permissions to view and edit Analytics views, for this reason they will not be able to use ActionableAgile.

All Subscriptions start with a 30-day trial. This may be extended in certain situations. If this is necessary, please reach out via our support portal.

Purchasing a multiple-user subscription

If multiple people in an organization want to use ActionableAgile, one person can buy a subscription with the desired quantity. The person who buys the subscription will be the person who can manage user access to the subscription. Read more: https://55degrees.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AA4A/pages/771033280

If you would like to buy an organization-level license or pay by invoice (only available for purchases of 5 users or more), please contact us and we will assist you.

How we identify you as a subscriber

We don’t manage Azure subscriptions by email address - everything is controlled by the authenticatedUser ID in Azure for privacy/security purposes. Granted, this makes support more challenging but we care more about your privacy!

You can see what your userID is at any point when you’re logged in by pulling up this URL: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/_apis/connectiondata

we pull the very first bit to identify you: {"authenticatedUser":{"id":"cb3x53fa-588x-423a-8bb4-8a4898da0dxx"

Users with Stakeholder access in Azure DevOps do not have permissions to view and edit Analytics views, for this reason they will not be able to use ActionableAgile.

The information we store for invited users

While you give us an email address to go along with your user ID when you create a trial or purchase a subscription, we don’t obtain or store email addresses or other personal information for your managed users. We only store the authenticatedUser id value in your subscription file. Though you can see email addresses for your user in the managed user area in ActionableAgile, that information is grabbed dynamically and not stored in our systems.

Using your subscription across multiple ADO organizations

Your license is valid for your user ID wherever that is used. This means it will work in any ADO organization in which your user ID is the same as the one you used to subscribe. If you have a different user ID then you’re seen as a different user and you’ll need a separate license.

Similarly, if you have been invited to a subscription bought by someone else, your license will also be valid across all ADO organizations that your user ID has access to.
