Legacy Data Loaders

The Legacy options are no longer available for Jira Cloud users.

Load a board, Load a filter and Load a project are our legacy loaders, they have been replaced by Load Jira Issues.

Jira Server and Data Center subscribers have access to a new data loading experience.
We highly recommend using this new functionality as it will eventually replace the existing functionality for loading Jira data in ActionableAgile. If you don’t see this option, ask your administrator to enable this feature.

There are three types of Jira data you can load into ActionableAgile
(and a couple of things to remember when you load your data)

You also have the option of loading an external .csv file from Jira or from any other data source. If using a .csv file, you’ll need to make sure your data conforms to the correct file format. You can also use the built-in example data to get familiar with how the tool works if you have limited data.

To find these options, navigate to the Folder icon in the top right of the navbar at the top of the application and click to see the options appear in a dropdown.

After you load your board, project or filter, there are 2 final steps (choices to make) to prepare your data for use.

Loading a Jira Board

When you choose ‘Load a Board,’ a dialog box will open and provide a list of boards that you have access to in your Jira instance. At the top, you will see a list of boards you have recently looked at in ActionableAgile. Underneath, you’ll see the full list of boards you can choose from. (See the image to the right)

If the list is too long, type in the Find box to narrow down your options. It will narrow down as you type so you don’t have to know the full name of the board you are looking for.

If you want to only pull data from a particular time period, check the checkbox next to “Load only issues created after (date)” and then click on the calendar icon to adjust the date.

If you are looking for a board that is not showing in your list, click on the “Update board list” link to ensure it refreshes in case you’ve recently created a board or have recently been given permission to see the board you are looking for.

Once you are finished, click on the continue button. Then you’ll have to one final step to select any custom data you want to import, such as Epic Name or Link, Sprint Information, etc.

Once you have finished with the wizard in the dialog box, your data will be ready for you to use within ActionableAgile for Jira.

Loading a Jira Project

When you choose ‘Load a Project,’ a dialog box will open and provide a list of projects that you have access to in your Jira instance. At the top, you will see a list of projects you have recently looked at in ActionableAgile. Underneath, you’ll see the full list of projects you can choose from.

If the list is too long, type in the Find box to narrow down your options. It will narrow down as you type so you don’t have to know the full name of the project you are looking for.

If you want to only pull data from a particular time period, check the checkbox next to “Load only issues created after (date)” and then click on the calendar icon to adjust the date.

If you are looking for a project that is not shown in your list, click on the “Reload” link to ensure it refreshes in case you’ve recently created a project or have recently been given permission to see the project you are looking for.

Once you are finished, click on the continue button. Then you’ll have to do a couple of final steps.

  1. select any custom data you want to import, such as Epic Name or Link, Sprint Information, etc.

  2. map Jira workflow statuses to a workflow, much like you do when configuring a Jira board

Once you have finished with the wizard in the dialog box, your data will be ready for you to use within ActionableAgile for Jira.

Loading a Jira Filter

When you choose ‘Load a Filter,’ a dialog box will open and provide a list of all of the filters that you have marked as a Favorite in Jira. It is not enough to be able to access a filter, you must have marked it as a favorite. At the top of the dialog box, you will see a list of filters you have recently looked at in ActionableAgile. Underneath, you’ll see your full list of favorite filters.

If the list is too long, type in the Find box to narrow down your options. It will narrow down as you type so you don’t have to know the full name of the filter you are looking for.

If you want to only pull data from a particular time period, check the checkbox next to “Load only issues created after (date)” and then click on the calendar icon to adjust the date.

If you are looking for a filter that is not shown in your list, click on the “Reload” link to ensure it refreshes in case you’ve recently created a filter or have recently been given permission to see the filter you are looking for.

Check for Updates / Reloading your Data

You will find that there are times when you want to load in a fresh copy of your data. To do this, just go to the folder icon and choose the option that says “Check for Updates to” followed by the name of the project, board, or filter you have loaded. This functionality will go get a fresh copy of all of the data to ensure that no change is left behind.
